waiting for a diagnosis

Hi

I found a small painful lump in my armpit, hasn't gone down so I went to GP this morning. At the appointment the GP checked my breasts and said I have a lump at the base of my left and two lumps in my armpit. She has referred me for an emergency breast screening and talked about having the lump at the base of my breast removed. I wasn't really taking anything in as soon as breast cancer was mentioned.

I'm feeling stressed out and cannot stop crying, don't really know what to think.

How long should I expect to wait for my appointment and then what should I expect from that appointmnet.

THANKS!!

  • Hi Annie22,

I'm sorry you got some scary news but remember nothing's confirmed until it's confirmed.

I don't know much about breast cancer but my husband fiound a lump in his neck and the x ray revealed some more in his chest. The dr suggested lymphoma amongst other things so to say we're extremely upset and worried would be an understatement.

He got his appt within 2 weeks. The dr said we were going to get a letter within a couple of days - we didn't so we rang the ENT clinic and got given the first available appointment. So if you don't hear soon maybe it's an idea to chase it up. Out CT scan is this morning. My tummy is in knots and it's not even me getting it done.

So I know what you're going through. Unfortunately the only way to get yourself through this is to stay positive, stay occupied and find a way of dealing with it. I use this forum and it's helped me a great deal. I also record some videos just for myself to offload, because I need to stay strong for my husband. It's about finding whatever works for you because it will be stressful and hard and horrible but IT WILL come to an end, like everything else. Everything comes to an end and your agony will too, it'll not last forever. And then everything will be fine, regardless of the diagnosis, because it has to be there is no other option!!! You keep telling yourself that.

    All the best
