I really think you've done the right thing in going to see the doctor. I know it can be terrifying when you're thinking the worst but try and look at it that you won't know either way until the GP gets to look at it. 

Lumps and lymph nodes pop up and down for all kinds of reasons, so it's probably best you see the doctor and get a blood test done. That will tell if you're fighting any infections. They might choose to also test you for glandular fever and other viruses as these can cause lymph nodes to appear.

And if it does end up being something - which it might well not be- be proud of yourself for taking the next steps to getting it sorted. Also take comfort in that lymphoma is a slow growing disease and often has a very good prognosis. But please try and not let your mind go down that route until you know for sure! Such worry and stress is no good for anyone and you'll only be putting yourself through it twice.

I'd make a note of symptoms and any concerns you want to raise with the doctor so you don't forget in the moment. I'd also be brave and tell them you think it's lymphoma. They will either be able to put your mind at ease and explain why it's not, or talk you through the next steps.
