Mum has been referred for biopsy and scan for lump in leg

Hi I'm so worried about my mum . She's been referred to another place as the lump in leg is not a cyst . Does this mean it is the worst outcome ? Please could somebody reply many thanks

  • Hi Ross and welcome to the forum.

I'm sorry about the lump on your mum's leg. It's always a tad worrying when unexplained lumps and bumps appear but hopefully the referral your mum has been given will get you a step closer to finding out what's going on. It doesn't unnecessarily mean it's going to be bad if a referral has been made but sometimes they are needed so the appropriate tests/scans can be carried out which help the doctors figure out what it is.

Hopefully some of our members who have been in a similar situation to your mum will share their advice and experiences with you soon but if you'd like to chat with someone about this then do give our cancer nurses a call. They're available on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.

    Kind regards,
