Positive fit test feeling a bit anxious

Hi

over the past few months I’ve been having a few symptoms that over time I felt may not been normal the last one being blood on stool so I googled it and it kept bring up things linking to bowel cancer I’m only 30 and so I know I may not be taken as seriously as this is normally found in older people, online it suggested I ordered a fit test and so I did and the results came back positive at 1000.10ng/ml now I know that these don’t mean I have bowel cancer but is an indication I should go to my doctor about my findings

while I am anxious that it’s came back positive and some of my symptoms are similar to bowel cancer are these high enough to warrant a doctor visit,it takes a lot for me to visit my doctor so I don’t want to go and give this result in to be told well that’s only slightly elevated and she sends me off home

has anyone had a fit test and had results similar enough to how low or high these might be

  • Hello Teaganmoo,

I think it would be a good idea to go and see your doctor just for reassurance and to explain your symptoms as well as the fact you ordered this test and the results came back positive. Your doctor will be in the best position to tell you more about this.

  • Hi there!

I'm impressed that you were clever and ordered the FIT test. That's a good thing to have the test done, everyone should do one I think to rule out cancer or to catch it early when it's easier to treat.

The next step is to go and see your doctor so he can advise if you need any other tests to rule out any problems. Don't delay and don't be nervous. This is all very routine for many of us older folks.

The sooner you go, the sooner it will be over with.

    All the best!
