Worried about throat cancer

Hi all,

I've never posted on here before.

I'm really worried that I have throat cancer and I can't stop thinking about it. I've had a persistent sore throat on my left side which is like a burning dull ache and radiates up to my tonsil and ear. I feel absolutely fine in myself and nothing has come up on my bloods but this has been going on since may.

I went to seen an ENT last week and he couldn't see anything looking in my throat and ears. He did however put a tube down my nostrils with a camera and said that one of my nostrils is really small which could cause the pain in my ear and throat. The pain comes and goes but it's there a lot of the time.

I am a female who is 23 years old, don't smoke and hardly drink. In the past I used to get tonsillitis a lot so wasn't sure if it  could be connected with this.

I'm booked in for an MRI scan on the 16th December but can't help and think the worse.

Just wanted to see if anyone else out there has had similar symptoms?

Thank you.

  • Hi Chanel; welcome to the forum.

It's always worrying having unexplained symptoms but it's encouraging to see that your appointment with ENT went well.

It must be frustrating not having answers though but hopefully the MRI will be able to give you some and you'll hear back from some of our members who have had similar symptoms soon.

Wishing you all the best for the 16th Chanel.

    Kind regards,
