Further investigations

Hi, At 47 and with a family history of breast cancer, I'm an annual mammogram visitor, two weeks ago I went for my annual mammogram and yesterday received a letter saying I have been recalled for further investigations, this is the forth time I've been recalled, previous occasions have involved xrays biopsies etc and fortunately I've been lucky and  all was okay, doesn't stop me worrying that this time I won't be so lucky, any words of advice are much appreciated or if anyone else has been in this situation numerous times, I appreciate any advice, I'm struggling to kerb my anxieties xx

  • I can't give you any advice as not been in this situation. But I'm a year older and had a core biopsy last week on a lump so can fully sympathise with the worry and anxiety. 2 week wait for results and it's literally driving me crazy. Can maybe a GP shed some light, will they have had the mammogram results? x

  • I am in the same situation as yourself breat cancer runs in the family and cervical cancer , I have yearly mammograms too . I went a week ago for a mammogram and now have been called back for further tests , I have never been called back before and I can't get it out of my head . I really feel for you and hope there is an all clear result , thinking of you , I am back in five days and it feels like a year . Let me know how you get on and wishing you luck and a big hug

  • Thank you for taking the time to reply, this will be my fourth recall and it doesn't get any easier, previous times luckily it's been cysts and calcification, I went to a different breast clinic this time and they weren't as thorough as the clinic I usually go so I'm hoping the images are not clear enough, I have my apt Monday so it's going to be a long weekend, I wish you all the luck for next week and it's nice to know we can chat as for me it does ease my anxieties, recalls are very common I know that, I swore if it happened again I wouldn't get myself worked up, but here I am again trying to kerb my anxieties, please let me know how you go on, I'll update Monday when I've been, take care x

  • Hi, sorry to hear your going through the same anxieties, it does help to speak to others, I had a bad experience with one of my recalls a few years ago with a very insensitive GP so I'm reluctant to get in touch with them, I think I'll just Christmas shop all weekend to take my mind of things (hopefully). Like you say it's the wait that is the worse, I hope your results come back all clear, my biopsy 3 years ago did, and once I spoke to different people I realise just how common it is for women to be recalled and have further tests etc, I just need to keep off google! He's my worst enemy at the moment lol keep me informed on your results, wishing you all the luck in the world x

  • [@Bibi49]‍  how are you? Have you received your results back yet?
I went for my further tests and had an ultra sound, mammogram and aspiration, luckily it was a cyst, I do hope you have received good news xx

  • Hi, sadly I was told it's cancer earlier today. All signs show that it was caught early, so fingers crossed.

Great news it's only a cyst, I am really pleased for you.

Shockingly the mammogram didnt show up my lump as my breast tissue is too dense. So lucky that I felt the lump x

  • I'm so sorry that you've received such awful news but like you say, caught early and with treatment you'll do absolutely fine, you must be all over the place, I hope you have family and friends to lean on, we are always here if you need to vent, it's easier sometimes to talk to strangers, I wish you all the luck in the world xx huge hugs to you xx
