My mum is 83,near 84 and she is full of life. Following a visit to the hospital for a blood check, she was ok but they found a shadow on her lung. The consultant insisted on biopsy but my mum had heard it is uncomfortable and painful . In fact my dad, aunts and uncles had the same but died very soon after . Mum doesn’t want to do it but the consultant is insisting. Mum is terrified and just wants to carry on in enjoying her life . She is asking what if it’s the worst , what can they do ? I think the same and now I am worried about her mental status . Is it right for a doctor to tell an 83 year old ? Shouldn’t they consult the family first ? My mum may die through worry and stress. Without this concern she may have lived in ignorance for far longer. She has changed already
