Biopsy results today

Hi, to cut a long saga short, I've been going through the usual 6 weeks of hellish tests, ct scan, mammogram and biopsies of supraclavicular lymph nodes. I had a hemithyroidectomy last year and they found a small papillary cancer which was removed with the lump.I was clear. Fast forward 18 months and I'm in so much pain, my lymph nodes are so huge they press on nerves in my right arm. Despite pleading with the hospital Ent by phone and email for pain relief nobody has got back to me. At lunchtime today I'm going to hospital for my results. I'm feeling tearful and panicky as I know just moving causes me pain enough to make me cry. I'm dreading the whole thing. My lovely sis is taking us and she's a great support but my fears are for the future as I'm a full time carer for my husband with memory and other problems and he's not coped well in the past few weeks. I just have a bad feeling about today. Thanks for allowing me to vent.

  • I hope you get the news you want but if you don't remember that us humans can cope with a lot. I always think of people who never got a second chance (for example died in a car accident) but people with cancer do get another chance. Stay strong!

    Best wishes

  • Just wanted to say I hope it's positive news for you

  • Thank you Honeym and Jbee for your kind words. Unfortunately it's not good news (funny how I can tell you but can't speak to my family and friends yet). My biopsies show cancer but they don't know where it is until I have a full body Pet scan next week. I feel like I'm having an out of body experience. At least I've got good pain relief tablets now. Once again playing the waiting game. Xx

  • Firstly I'm so sorry it's not the news we were all hoping for, I'm glad you got painkillers at least for now.  I'm sure they will move you through the pathway quickly now so hopefully not too long a wait.

Sometimes talking to strangers is easier, no judgement and plus on here we kind of all in the same boat unfortunately but we do understand even if we don't have the answers.  I know what you mean about feeling like you having an out of body experience.  Getting ones head around everything without full information like where it is, what's going to be the plan is so difficult but keep busy if you can, try not google ... all the usual advice that's given here.

If you want to chat we all here, I'm starting radiotherapy next week Thursday, just going to go with the flow and shut my eyes and pretend I'm on a beach with large umbrella drink

Hopefully you can get help with hubby depending treatment etc sorry you in this situation it's never fair
