Advise needed for my sister neck/head suspected cancer

Just wondering if anyone had been through something similar as my sister. She went to the doctors on Tuesday due to having headaches and pain in one eye, she also had two lumps come out on each side of her neck (under ear area) gp sent her for a blood test. She went back to the doctors on Friday where the gp informed her that the blood test came back with nothing sinister. The Dr's have now transferred her to the hospital with a two week wait for suspected cancer of neck/head. She would like to know what the next process would be? The doctors didn't give much information about the process just said she would receive a letter within two weeks, she is fit and healthy 28 year old, she doesn't feel unwell in herself and doing her normal activities with working and being a mum. Any advice and information would be be very grateful thank you x

  • Hi jess I'm in a very similar position to your sister with exactly the same symptoms. My gp sent me off to get my bloods checked and an x Ray of my chest. Next week I'm going to an ENT specialist so hopefully things can get a little clearer. It's awful waiting, just trying to keep busy and try to remain positive. Would be great to hear how your sister gets on. Hope everything goes well. Xx

  • Thank you for your reply hun. Hope you don't mind me asking how long have you waited for your referral to get an appointment with ENT? I'm hoping her appointment is quick as possible. Good luck at your appointment wishing you the best. Would be good to hear how you get xx

  • Hi jess no problem, I went to see my gp a month ago but he said that my lymph node swelling wasn't that bad and could have happened due to an infection (even though I hadn't really noticed, it could have been low level). However since then I started getting headaches, shooting pains in my neck and pressure behind my eye so I booked another appointment with a different GP and she referred me for the tests. The ENT appointment was 1 week after the GP appointment but that was just due to there being a space free then. I think if a GP refers it, it's usually 2 weeks and then I'm not sure how long it takes to get results. Your sister might be fine, I think its just to rule anything out that serious. Hopefully she won't have to wait too long xx

  • evening/morning chicks,

ive had/having a similar scenario that due to the doctor appointment situation etv ive given up on . History of thyroid nodule apprarently benign altho student doctor performing fsa was unsucessful in obtaining adequat biopsy and after 30 mins of tryin has his consultant mentor tell him it'll will just "have to do".  Excuse me if i sound pessimistic at me result but hardly brims you with confidence. 2 years on i have developed an enlargening on my right side of my neck.. and lumps upon the surface of my breasts that initially was told was impetago. i have had them over 12months now without healing.  I finally got an emmergency appointment at my gp in which i was last customer of the day.  only too be told i had to be chaperonered without choice and could only give him one problem to dela with as it was emmergency.  i forget to add girls that i attended as id started to have seizures from april and as i dont suffer from epilepsy i needed to go.  He basically wanted me to choose what problem i wanted sorting, patted my breast at arms length twice and never ventured near my neck.  I attended mri head. waited for some sort of communication from my gp whatever outcome as id been advised i couldnt drive..... that was sept .. i rang few weeks bk receptionist sed oh your ok it says........

i feel your angst and worry i reall do

apologies for any spelling mistakes im typing in dark lol
