Hi Ren343, this isn't meant to scare you, but do not wait 3 weeks to see a GP. Did you tell them why you need the appointment? I'd be surprised if they couldn't fit you in sooner if they knew.
You can call 111 for advice 24/7, they will tell you other options, such as going to a walk in centre, seeing an urgent care GP, or tell you if they think A&E is appropriate.
I had a post menopause bleed two years ago, and knew it's a sign to get checked out promptly. My GP arranged a gynae clinic referral under the 2 week wait rules. She said that while nine out of ten cases will not be serious,( eg a hormonal imbalance) one in ten could be an early sign of cancer of the womb lining.
As it happens, my case did prove to be cancer, which was sorted with a hysterectomy, no further treatment. Things were caught very early. The consultant said unfortunately some women leave it months before having investigation.
Please remember the odds are on your side that this isn't a sign of cancer for you. Hopefully you can get to see a doctor soon.

Hi my 81 year old mum who lives with us told me that she had a bleed last night she's feeling fine and not had anymore but I am worried sick about her going straight to gp Monday
Hi Ren343
If they know at your surgery you need an appointment for a post menopausal bleed, I’m sure you will be able to get a quicker appointment. My surgery has a doctor who even has a certain clinic just to see such cases and when I phoned I got a next day appointment. It could be a number of things, but it’s best to be seen promptly to be investigated. xx
At our Dr's we can ring up on the day for an emergency appointment.
I am 54 and hadn't had a period for 18 months....
Then I had a bit of spotting followed by a proper period, just like they used to be.
I was sent for an ultrasound and the person said my womb wall appeared thickened.
I then had a gyni appointment where biopsies were taken from my womb lining.
The results came back fine, I then had to be put to sleep for camera and more biopsies just to make 100% sure.
Everything came back fine but we did have a couple of months of massive worry though.
Apparently it is quite common for the ovaries to kick up again for one last period.
Hope you get sorted soon.
I find it's a months wait for a GP, but can you get same or next day urgent appointment with a nurse if you tell reception exactly what the problem is? a nurse started the PMB referral process for me.
