This doesn't sound right.

I would get an emergency appointment with another Dr in your practice for something stronger to put you on while you see the consultant.

Have you tried cocodomol?

If I'm not mistaken I think you can take both paracetomol and ibuprofen together.

I hope they get you sorted soon.

I've tried ringing an hour ago was in tears because the pain in my neck in so bad and I have to go to the walk in center as they have said there is nothing they can give me. Our drs is a joke, I went 2 weeks ago because I have such a dry mouth and asked if there was anything to help and again there answer was we cant help because your under a consultant, i dont understand the rules.

So looks like a night for me sitting up urgent care as I cant go on in this pain....

I've been taking paracetamol and ibuprofen together and it wont touch the pain, I'm allergic to codeine so cant take co codamol ;( xxx

What about just turning up at A&E if you live quite near.

It's disgusting when you're in so much pain.

Hi, I'm so glad I found your post. I'm in the same position as you. My supraclavicular lymph nodes are huge and pressing on the nerves. My doc wouldn't give me meds as he said we need to know what we're dealing with first. I've had a ct scan and core biopsies and get the result  next week. Meanwhile I'm stuck in bed in agony. No over the counter remedies help. I've phone ENT twice this week for advice and nobody has got back to me. I sympathise with your plight and hope you get the help you need. All the best xx

They dont even know what's going on with me yet , it all started around 8/9 weeks ago now had ear pain and they said it was a absess in my ear canal so put me on antibiotics for a week, a week later I had no change and more symptoms so went back they mentioned parotid gland, as I then had the symptoms of not being able to swollow properly, the left side back of my mouth is numb, I have a sore on my tongue at the back on the left side (still there) and the awful pain in my neck so they said to be "suspected cancer" we will do a 2 week referral, I have a slight lump below my ear and one just under my jaw to the back.

My neck feels so swollen but to look at me it's just slightly, ibe had the camera up my nose and that seemed ok, but the consultant booked me in for a urgent MRI which I had monday and I see him Tuesday for the results.

The pain though is getting worse, I'm pretty much can get on with things but this pain has knocked me for six, its one of them pains that you just want no one to talk to you and makes you irritable with everyone.

I'm going up to the hospital as I cant be like this over the weekend, just waiting on hubby to come home and he will come up with me xxx

Waiting for results is bad enough but with agonising pain, it's no wonder you're short tempered and want to be left alone. My husband sends the dog into the bedroom first!! I hope you get some help at the walk-in, but if not we'll both have our results next week, will know what we're dealing with and can then move forward and get something done. Good luck. Xx

So I went to A&E last night, had more blood tests done, I saw the A&E consultant doctor who was quite annoyed with my own doctor for leaving me in pain they gave me one dose of oramorph while I was there and gave me naproxen tablets to take home and told me to get back on to my dr Monday morning and ask for morphine based pain killers. They tried looking up my MRI results but apparently they are not on the system which he said is strange as they only take 1 day to come back at this hospital and should of been available on the system Tuesday last week to see, which then now worries me as my appointment is this coming Tuesday.

The morphine they gave me last night and naproxen which was also started last night (now on 2nd dose) has done nothing , and I'm still in pain I just want all this gone now and to feel normal xxx

Sorry to read that your trip to A&E hasn't helped the pain. Maybe the tablets need to build up for a couple of days before they start to work. I would call the hospital on Monday just to check your results are back before you go. I had my appt cancelled last week for the same reason. I find a good sob helps relieve the stress Good luck on Tuesday, I'm going Wednesday so fingers crossed for both of us. Xx

I will give them a call just to make sure, I did worry when the consultant made the appointment in the first place that quickly.

Hopefully the tablets start to work as I cant take much more of this pain.
