Three lumps in breast - any advice?

Hi,

This is my first time posting so hoping it's in the right place etc.

I found a lump in my breast last month (25th oct). it was just under the areola of my left breast - probably the size of a marble. A few weeks later I found another, much smaller lump towards the side of my boob, size of a small pea. I went to the GP (4 days ago) and he is sending me for a referral to the breast clinic, but had said it's probably cysts.

He said to go back if there is any changes etc. I found another lump, again size of a small pea near the top of my breast (halfway between my armpit and my nipple). I was just wondering if, first - anyone had any experience of multiple lumps at the same time, but also I was wondering whether anyone thought I should go back to my GP? I don't wanna waste their time as the referral is in the process so unsure what it would achieve (if that makes sense?).

I'm 90% calm and ok about it becuase I know that in most cases its not BC, and I don't think I have a family history of BC. I just wanted some advice, as I have no idea when I will get the referral appointment and three lumps within the space of 1 month is a little anxious!).

Thanks!

  • Hi liiissa,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. It sounds like you're coping with this pretty well but of course I understand how you're feeling - the uncertainty is never easy to deal with.

It sounds like the best thing to do is to wait for your referral appointment. If you don't get this after 2 or 3 weeks you can always check with the hospital.

You may wish to discuss this with our nurses to get another opinion and they may be better able to advise. If so, you can reach them on 0808 800 4040 - Monday-Friday, 9-5.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben
