Concern over speed of surgery

Hi

i went for a flexible sigmoidoscopy yesterday because of symptom ive been having with haemmorhoids.
During the examination, a number of polyps were found and I have been referred for a full colonoscopy (my father is currently being treated for cancer which originally started in his bowel so I can understand their concern)

I am not overly concerned about the polyps but something that the dr said has bothered me.

he has told me I will need "what seemed to have started as haemorrhoids" removed and within the next couple of weeks.
this seems really quite quick and I'm concerned that the tissue that he found was sinister. It looked very different to the rest of the tissue us saw on the screen.
I know I should have asked more when I was in there, but I just lost focus really!

thanks in advance for any replies

  • Hi Flissyfliss,

    Welcome to Cancer Chat.

As you say, the best thing is to ask your doctor any questions that you have about this as they're always best placed to advise specifically to you.

Regardless of what they found with the tissue, it's good that you are having an appointment quickly - hopefully this will help to provide peace of mind, and as I say do make sure to discuss everything with them at that appointment so that you're fully informed.

    Wishing you all the best,
