CIN 1 Concerns

Im hoping for reassurance and good/successful stories!

So I am 26, in Feb this year i had my first smear which i was then told it is CIN1 - due another smear Feb 2020

For the past couple of months ive been bleeding quite bad after sex, and sex is so so uncomfortable and can be extremely painful. Today I plucked up enough courage and went to the doctors, she examined me and said the left side is perfect tidy and clean however the top and right side is concerning, she then took a swab and wrote a letter to my consultant and requested for it to be urgant! - she was honest and said she would like me to have another colposcopy.

Alarm bells are ringing in my head as cancer runs massively through my family and i lost my mum nearlly 2 years ago and she was only 45.

I got the vibe that things may have esculated quickly down there from what the doctor was saying!

Anyone else been in this position? what was the outcome?

  • Hello Tanya93

I'm sorry to hear about the health problems you've been dealing with recently. Well done for plucking up the courage to go and see your GP.

It's common for a referral to be made straight away if there is something that may be puzzling to the Dr. Try not to be alarmed by the use of the term "urgent" on the referral form.

You might find it helpful to chat with 2 other new members [@Tootz]‍ and [@Droppet]‍ who have also both been referred following cervical exams. You can search for their posts using the search function at the top of the page.

I hope that you don't have to wait too long for your appointment and that things are resolved quickly.

    Best wishes,
    Jenn
