Ear, throat and tongue issues

Hi everyone i have read many post on here in thevlast few days trying to find answers for some issues ive been having.

5 weeks ago i started with a dry throat, which made my ear hurt, it came on suddenly whilst on holday. A couplenof weeks later it had not improved amd symproms seemed to be getting worse at night, so i saw a doctors who said it was viral but because my throat was inlammed did a swab and had bloods done. Results came back clear for swab, bloods showed low iron and Vitamin D. Told me to get a multivitamin from a supermarket.

Did that, still no improvement with throat and ear, in the meantime discovered that my throat was bright red as well as some red bumps on the back wall. So went back to to practise ans saw a nurse practitioner who referred me to ENT and prescribed steroids to gargle.

Still feeling rubbish, really tired, weak, irritable and still with ear pain and dry throat. Went back last week l, locum doctor checked bloods on the computer and said i should of been given a prescription as my irom was too low for a multivitamin to work, he said he couldnt comment on my mouth issues but though my ear might be my eustachian tube blocked, so gave me a spray.

The lymph node on my right side is enlarged aswell but he didnt seem concerend.

This last week my tongue has neen sore and achy and my ear pain has been persistent throughout the day and throat feels scratchy. Doesnt hurt when i ear or drink though.

I have an ENT appointment in 4 weeks and im going crazy waiting, i am constantly googling which i know is not the answer as it gives the worst case scenario. I have a 3 year old and 6 month old and am terrified its something sinister.

Anyway thank you if you have read this far. I have read many posts on here in the last few days and you are all amazingly strong and supportive of one another.

Thanks x

  • Hi Ktkg and welcome to the forum.

I'm sorry about the symptoms you've been experiencing but fingers crossed your ENT appointment will get you a step closer to finding out what's going on.

Hopefully others who have been in a similar position will offer their support and advice soon but in the meantime I wanted to wish you all the best for your appointment in 4 weeks time.

    Kind regards,
