Hi there, I'm 44 years old and got a referral to a breast clinic after having some pain in my left breast and a lumpy feeling the area. I've had a Fibroadenoma removed previously (same breast) so presumed it would be another of these. After my mammogram the radiology doctor said there was something there that they needed to look at so she did a core biopsy there and then. She mentioned it could be micro calcification but it could also be something more sinister. She then took one of the biopsies for X-ray and came back saying good news it's calcification. I have a follow up results appointment but that appointment is not for 4 weeks (partly because I couldn't make a couple appointments they offered due to work). I should have asked at the time but they were so busy, I'm just wondering if it was good news it was calcification I don't see why I need a follow up and with my appointment being so far away that would also suggest there is nothing untoward. This whole process from finding the lump to watching and waiting if it was just hormonal, waiting weeks for a GP appointment and then for the referral has taken about 6 months so I am bored of thinking about it now! I'm not desperately worrying it's something sinister but my mum had breast cancer (thankfully cured) so the thought is there. Just wondering if anyone else could share their experience of calcification and if such a long wait for a follow up appointment is a good sign!
Thanks for reading, sorry for the essay!
