Relapse of hodgins. Waiting for confirmation.

My husband had hodgkins 8 years ago when he was 20. Our son was only a baby at the time. He had stage 1A so only needed radiotherapy. He was admitted to hospital last week for abdominal pain and a ct scan showed swollen lymph nodes either side of diaphragm and spleen. His crp infection levels high but no infection found. He also tested positive for d dimer - dvt test and no clot was found. I've since read that a false positive may occur if there is malignant cells in body. We are awaiting on urgent referral appointment to haematology. How will they diagnose? He has no actual lumps? Last time it was  a lump in his neck which they took biopsy off. We are worried sick and have a 2 year old and 8 year old and my husband is my full time carer due to my own ill health. I don't know how we are going to cope

  • Hello Stacey and welcome to the forum.

I'm sorry to hear that your husband has been unwell and that you're now waiting for him to be seen urgently by the haematologist. It's understandable that you're concerned about what may be ahead of you both. We know that waiting for tests and results can be a very difficult time.

We do have some information on our website about diagnosing hodgkin lymphoma which may help to answer some of your questions.

If you'd like to talk things through with one of our team of nurses ahead of your husbands appointment you're welcome to call them on 0808 800 4040 (Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm).

Keep in touch Stacey and let us know how you're both getting on.
    Best wishes,
