I am a little scared of what is happening. Need some advice

About 2 months ago I came down with cold. Cold went away quickly but the dry cough started and never stopped. Then I had the flu again 3 weeks ago and my cough started producing dark green phelm, and then about since a little over last week I started blood in the phelm. Now the cold is gone and cough has again become dry and hacky. I now see blood in saliva in the morning as well after I eat anything spicy. My throat is very sore all along. My blood reports are near normal and thyroid ultrasound is normal. The gp noticed a slight swelling on right side of the neck but US says its all good . I also have hpv warts. I am 35 m, with a 7 months pregnant wife so a little scared of all of this. I am pushing my gp for an ent referral but he thinks its all normal. I feel really lost, the nature of the sore throat is very different and I have never had blood from my throat hefore. Any suggestions on what tests can I do to be sure of what is going on? Thank you

  • HI

I know you're worried but the tests have came back clear, your GP says its normal and a hacking cough could can cause little veins at the back of throat to burst - so what prompts you to think this may be cancer?

Sounds like your very stressed out and run down due to cold/flu. Why don't you give it a couple of weeks before returning to the GP to see how things go. Some lemon and honey may help your throat.

  • Thank you for your kind response.I hope that this all there is to it. However, the reason I am worried is the combination of symtpoms I have : A long dry cough spell, blood in saliva,a neck lump on right side, and a slight hearing issue in the right ear all tick boxes for multiple cancers unfortunately (but could be something non sinister as well). I want to check with my gp is he could run a few more tests that woupd rule out cancer(if that is possible). My gp is a nice guy but unfortunately a little old school (and has missed few things in the past). But I were to suggest to him about the tests I am certain he would help. I just don't know which ones. I am primarily worried about base of toungue/throat cancer being HPV positive.

  • Hi

You dont need to know which tests you need - thats your GPs job to decide which (if any) you need. You can always go see a different GP to get a second opinion.
