2 years of bowel issues. Colonoscopy in 1 week, SCARED

Hello everyone, hope you are all well

I had a major heart attack at age 29 due to random blood clot. After I was on my way to recovery my blood tests showed a low blood count. I had 2 transfusions and the doctor ordered me to get a camera into my stomach and into my bowel to see if there was any issues causing the blood loss. My stomach showed no problems and I had to wait a month for my colonoscopy,. Which my doctor then cancelled due to my weekly blood tests showing I was back on track and suffering no low. Blood count after a month on iron tablets.

2 months after my heart attack, my dosage of Ramipril, Bisoprolol, aspirin and Lansoprazole were increased and I then started suffering soft stools at every bowel movement. Some days I would be okay and spicy food and alcohol would trigger running back and forth to the loo.

Its been nearly 2 years now, I have not suffered any weight loss, tiredness or serious cramping or a lot of blood during a bowel movement. Sometimes there's drops of blood on the tissue. My doctor wants to get to the bottom of the soft stool movements. In the last 2 years I've had 4 GPS who have all had different views. One wants to look for a tumor, one says it looks like Ibs, one says my aspirin(NSAID) has caused bowel damage and inflammation.

I'm really scared for next week, I can't stop worrying. My last Calprotectin result showed a result of 431, and a doctor I visited at hospital who booked my colonoscopy told me she's not worried because its not that high, whereas he's had people with results in the thousands upwards.

I don't know what to do with myself, I don't wanna talk to anyone and I can't crack a smile due to constant worry.

Sorry for the long post

  • Hello Jay88

I'm sorry to hear about all the health problems that you've been dealing with. It sounds like you've had a lot to manage these past few years.

It's understandable that you've concerned about what may be causing your current symptoms especially as you've been given so many different potential causes by different Dr's.
Hopefully your colonscopy next week will provide answers and the Consultant will be able to discuss what treatment is the best way forward.
I hope that things improve for you soon.
    Best wishes,

  • Hi

Wow you have had a lot of issues for your age.

Try to keep busy until your colonoscopy and please don't google!

Your test will find the answer. They will probably tell you what has shown up on the day too.

Good luck, let us know how you get on.
