What does the pain feel like

I have been referred to hospital for an ultrasound. Been through menopause for over a year but I have been spotting and have had dull pain since last saturday. Also had a cervical smear in aug that was not 100% okay but was told they would retest in a year as I had no other symptoms. I am hoping all is okay. I was wondering if anyone that has gone through this could explain the pain they had...trying to decide whether I need to worry or not!

Cant tell you about the pain but I can tell you when I had spotting it was a cervical erosion so laser treatement sorted it out quickly. It's not as painless as (male!) doctors claim but the worst part was the liquid (iodine?) they paint all over the area and is difficult to get off again. This is not necessarily cancer so while concern is understandable it's not time to panic yet. /
