Delay in biopsy results

hi just looking for a wee bit of reassurance I guess or anyone experienced similar .

i have a lump under my right breast (sometimes painful so good sign right?)

anyway went to dr who said orobabaly a cyst and referred me to breast clinic where the consultant had a feel and said felt like a sebaceous cyst but sent me round for ultrasound just to be sure , they then said it wasn’t a cyst and done a biopsy and was given an appointment for a week later, I was called the other day to move my appointment to tomorrow (10 days) because the results were delayed .....is this a good sign? And would they call you in sooner if a positive result for cancer came back , any response would be great

  • Unfortunately I wouldnt say it was a sign either way - just a sign of the pressure the NHS is under and the staff shortages. But yes, if there is any concern they will probably phone to move an appointment forward. However even when they do that it isnt necessarily  cancer. My husband's results appointment was brought forward 2 weeks because the radiologist decided something caused him concern and a biopsy was inconclusive.. So there was another scan but that time he decided things looked more normal so the second biopsy didnt happen.

  • thank you for your reply , glad your husbands was normal but you’s must have got a fright when called early.

Tbh it’s all happening fairly quickly frol

Only being at the drs 2 and a half weeks ago then hospital last week and results this week but just want to know now , the longer the wait the more I’m questioning things, I will know either way by this time tomorrow , I’m sure it will all be fine

  • Hiya

i know how you feel I get my results tomorrow too! Still in my PJs as I’m being nice to me today and my hubby has been brill, bless. It’s scary isn’t it all this waiting around. Can’t grt my head straight and cooking anything even slightly complex is beyond me, I’m sat on my bed watching lovely rubbish on TV with the rain pounding against my window and I’m almost zen like (probably the glass of wine I had at lunchtime!)  Not like the usual rushing and tearing around cleaning anything that doesn’t move person who lives in this body, it’s just not important today. It’s all happened so fast hasn’t it, no time to breathe or say “stop I don’t want to know what’s happening inside me”. I may have vocal cord cancer, what are you being tested for? I will pray for you tonite, I’m multi denominational so I can’t possibly offend you by not choosing the correct prayer, lol. I’m quite old anyway, hubby says I’ve one foot in grave already.as he’s younger than me, don’t you just love the man. Yep 66 and don’t look a day over 18 even if I have to say it myself. Are you young and trendy guy to girl? Never posted to someone I haven’t met face to face before but I just saw your post and it reflected everything I was feeling so I had to reply. jeez now I’m rambling, I’ll shut up and let you go. Please tell me good or bad news tomorrow and I’ll do same. Love and hugs pauline x

  • hi Pauline , what a lovely reply , and yes it is scary but I’m actually ok about it as I think my results will come back negative . I’m not being tested for anything as such but have a lump in my breast which I thought was a cyst but when I attended the hospital after being referred an ultrasound confirmed it wasn’t and they then done a biopsy, thinking it is orobabaly a benign tumour . I have never heard of vocal cord cancer (exscuse my ignorance) likewise I hope your results tomorrow are of good news and make sure hubby keeps up with looking after you regardless

  • What a lovely reply, thank you. Take care my new friend, I’ll be thinking of you. Love Pauline x

  • Hello anotheralias,

I hope you and your husband are doing better now ️ .I was just wondering if you found out what your husband's problem was as I'm currently in a similar situation.Do you mind giving me an update please?was it cancer or clear ?

  • Hey Gxy,

I just noticed you were hoping to find out how anotheralias's husband is getting on.

I've just had a look at their profile and can see the last time they logged in was back in 2019 so I'm not sure if you'll get an update from them I'm afraid.

I will have my fingers crossed that won't be the case but if you don't receive a reply, you could try reaching out to other members on more recent and active discussions about this topic as it'll improve your chances of getting a response.

    Kind regards,
