Breast thickening/Nodules

Hello there

Last night I felt a lump and I managed to see my GP this morning. She examined me and said there was no lump but she felt thickening and nodules and has referred me for a 2 week urgent appointment.

This is the 3rd year where I've have a cancer scare. I have a mass on my right buttock that thankfully turned out to be a lipoma (fatty lump) then last year I developed a pea sized lump under my jawline. I had tests for lymphoma and again the tests came back clear. I still have this lump but I'm getting so scared that this time something is drastically wrong.

Could this just be an age thing? I'm 52, not had a period for 2 years. No history of breast cancer in my family and have never taken HRT

Thank you

  • Hi Sandynoshoes and welcome to the forum.

I'm sorry about the cancer scares you've had over the last few years and can understand why you're worried again now but hopefully the tests will show that the lump you've found is no cause for concern.

We can't say whether this is age related but if this is playing on your mind do be sure to discuss this with your doctor the next time you see them. You can also have a general chat about this with our cancer nurses on 0808 800 4040 (Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m) as well.

Wishing you all the best with your referral Sandynoshoes.

    Kind regards,
