Breast clinic referral fears

I guess I'm looking for anyone with similar symptoms to myself having had an urgent referral to the breast clinic, by my GP this morning.

I've had tender breasts for weeks, but noticed it was far more on the left side. The right is back to normal. The left has a nugget type lump just above the areola. The areola is now darker and sunken in. It's sore and a bit itchy.

Has anyone experienced this, or struggling with the awful wait? Urgent apps. are 2 weeks wait, but they do all tests in one day and can give biopsy results on the day. I think this is quite good. The worry is tough, especially as I'm a lone parent with a 7 year old.

    Hi Lesley,

Thank you for your good wishes. I sincerely hope that you can manage to put this to the back of your mind over the festive period and that you have a Wonderful Christmas and a Healthy and Happy New Year.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Thank you will try and not think about it. I am off for 2 weeks from work going to keep busy with arts and crafts and hopefully some metal detecting weather permitting and spending time with family. Merry Christmas

  •

    Hi Lesley,

    Good for you.

What sort of terrain do you do your metal detecting on? I would have thought of this as a pursuit for better weather.

    What crafts are you into?

Enjoy your 2 weeks off with the family.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Metal detecting can be all year round beaches all year around ,  pasture fields when there is no animals around and arable field in autumn winter when crops are finished. My detector is weather proof so can survive the Scottish weather. Only if there is a hard frost and can't dig that would stop me or if the weather is really bad. While detecting have found flint arrowhead that is 8000 years old. I do landscape painting/ drawing ,mosaics,  japanese woodblock printing . Stained glass,  needle felting and knitting. Lots to keep me busy.

    Hi Lesley,

I do metal detecting too, but only on beaches and, in fine weather. My finds have mostly been old coins. Wow, with all those hobbies you should have no bother passing your time.

    Kind regards,

  • I end up doing a beach clean when on the beach while detecting found a few coins and a fake gold ring and a dog tag. Detecting is great better than the gym getting exercise and being in the outdoors. I live in the countryside the farmer that owns the fields next to the house says I can detect on his land which is great. Oldest coin i found is a 1677 Scottish bawbee (sixpence ).

    Hi Lesley,

I agree, it's so much more interesting than the gym. I started coin detecting when I lived on a farm, but have since moved to a town. You are fortunate that your local farmer is so accommodating. We have a few Norse and Roman coins.

I hope that you manage to enjoy Christmas, despite still having the biopsy looming over you. Here's wishing you a Very Merry Christmas and a Healthy and Happy New Year.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Thanks Jolamine it must be amazing finding roman coins. I would love to find something viking as I have some Scandinavian DNA. Have a lovely christmas and a happy and healthy new year thanks for the support  Lesley

  • Hi Jolamine just a quick update I got my letter through today with the results from my core needle biopsy that was done on the 8th of Jan. The lump is either a Benign Tubular Adenoma or Nodular Adenosis.. I just want to thank you and all the lovely people on this forum who have been so supportive these past couple of months while waiting for appointments and results. all the best Lesley

    Hi Lesley,

Thank you so much for the update. This is fantastic news. I can almost feel your relief from here. I am so happy for you. What is the position now, are you going to have any further investigation, or is it a case of regular reviews to ensure that all stays ok?

I had good news today as well. The brain scan I had 4 weeks ago, hasn't showed up anything untoward. There is demyelination of some of the nerves, but this seems to be an ageing thing.

    Stay well.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
