Breast clinic referral fears

I guess I'm looking for anyone with similar symptoms to myself having had an urgent referral to the breast clinic, by my GP this morning.

I've had tender breasts for weeks, but noticed it was far more on the left side. The right is back to normal. The left has a nugget type lump just above the areola. The areola is now darker and sunken in. It's sore and a bit itchy.

Has anyone experienced this, or struggling with the awful wait? Urgent apps. are 2 weeks wait, but they do all tests in one day and can give biopsy results on the day. I think this is quite good. The worry is tough, especially as I'm a lone parent with a 7 year old.

  • Hi CazStu

Sorry to hear of your diagnosis.  How are you now feeling?

Have you any idea of your treatment yet?

Just wanted to say I'm thinking of you.

  • Hi Bibi49

How you feeling today?  I'm thinking of you and wishing you well for your results tomorrow.  Don't forget to let us know how you get on.

Sending you a virtual hug as I know it's a difficult time!

  • Hi folks I guess I won't be posting much now. Biopsy results showed no cancer. I have a supposedly rare condition called lobular mastitis which requires surgical drainage, possible lumpectomy and pain relief. Now a breast clinic outpatient for the foreseeable. So I need to be patient until it sorts itself out which can take up to a year?

So relieved its not cancer. Awaiting 3rd heart surgery too, so today was welcome news, albeit a tricky condition.

Warm wishes and prayers for all those who are getting diagnosis of b.c. and good luck to all you lovely ladies I've connected with over the past weeks.

  • Hi

I'm feeling a bit wiped out and have had my first cry today. I've got the breast surgeon I requested and the 'team' are happy for me to have a mastectomy with implant reconstruction. But, I've asked for a double mastectomy and I'm having to jump through lots of hoops. I've had a grilling by two breast nurses for almost 2 hours and will meet the consultant tomorrow.

[@MiniMum81]‍ I'm glad your results showed no cancer and good luck with everything.

[@Bibi49]‍ Fingers crossed for tomorrow. I hope everything is ok x

  • Dear Cazstu thinking about you. I hope you get the procedures that you want and the nurses and doctors are supporting you in your decisions. Crying is a good release of built up emotions it's okay to cry. Praying that all goes well for you. X

  • Lauren, I'm so pleased for you. Good luck with your heart surgery xx

  • Why can't you just have a double mastectomy? Even if all results are good tomorrow, I feel like having one. They've done their job, fed my kids, hate them now!

Are the risks too great having it? I hope your consultant agrees tomorrow. You shouldn't have to fight xx

  • [@CazStu]‍ that's understandable you're feeling drained. Crying is a healthy human reaction. I hope you get the outcome you want meeting the consultant tomorrow. Thinking of you x

[@Bibi49]‍ good luck with your biopsy results tomorrow, wishing you a positive outcome. Thanks for wishing me luck with my heart op. Third time lucky I'm hoping.

    Hi Lauren,

What a relief you must feel, I am delighted for you. I am sure that you won't mind attending the breast clinic regularly when there is no cancer present.

I hope that your mastitis heals up soon and that your heart surgery goes well.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

    Hi CasStu,

I hope that you can manage to persuade your surgeon to do the double mastectomy. If you are sure that this is what you want, just stick to your guns.

I am glad that you have got the surgeon you wanted to do the operation.

I shall be thinking of you tomorrow and keeping my fingers crossed.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
