Waiting game....

After a week from hell, my mum has recently been told her breast cancer has returned after 6 years of been told she was clear of the disease. The last few months she has had pain i  her side and after various visits to gps, hospitals, scans, cts nothing has been found. Although we got told it was "kidney stones" "plurisy" nothing, remaining breast was to heavy (yes this was actually told to her by someone in the medical field. We visited our local hospital Thursday who informed us it was just fluid from the lung and will be drained under local. After having a scan in the room, the dr told her she had fluid on the lining of her lung and will need it draining, we were then told she is certain the cancer has returned and only by drainingthe fluid we will know what's happening.

As you can imagine my heart is shattered and cant comprehend the future or the next few weeks. I have done the naughty thing and took to Google, people from this forum will know my mind is racing to the negative. I just need to speak to people who will understand or maybe give a little advice

  • Hi Flower26

Sorry to hear about your mum. It must come as a huge shock. You know to stay away from Dr Google, it knows nothing about your mum's personal circumstances. Hopefully once all the tests come back a treatment plan will be put in place to help your mum. Little to be gained from worrying, I know that's easier said than done but at the moment you don't really know much so my advice is to try and reign in your fears and thinking of worse case scenarios and take matters in small steps. There are many women will secondary breast cancer that live for years with cancer. Take care x
