Indents of breast - do I need to fear the worst?

Hi All

This is my first time posting - but Dr Google has rather freaked me out!

At the weekend just gone, I happened to notice an ever so slight indent in my left breast - Its not at all visible with my arms down, only when I lift my arms into the air - and even then, I literally have to stand at a certain angle to see it, and also under a certain light - any other way, and I would have missed it completely.. Went to the dr's on Monday, she says her gut says it's nothing but she has referred me under the 2 week referral.  However, I now feel like there are more indents... again though, only when I lift my arm and in certain positions and lighting...    breast is not at all inflammed, red or looking like an orange...

Anyway, Got the phone call today from Radiology, earliest they can fit me in for an ultrasound is still another 10 days away... am absolutely  terrified and am struggling to concentrate on anything else - I have 2 young children and I absolutely crumble when thinking I might have something serious

I hate the fact that I have to wait another 10 days to even be seen - just want some answers now :-( xx

  • Hello [@wanttoplan]‍

I know that nearly all our members here will agree that the "waiting" is a really difficult period of time. Waiting for tests and results can cause lots of anxiety and naturally we want answers as soon as possible.

I also know that lots of our members would advise to give Dr Google a very wide berth. If he was a real Dr he'd have been struck off years ago! There's lots of inaccurate and irrelevant information on Google which ultimately won't give you the answer to your situation. It will however make you worry more.

If you'd like to speak to one of our nurses about your concerns then you're most welcome to give them a call. They're available on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm and I'm sure they'll be able to offer some advice and support.
    Best wishes,
