Do i have lymphoma? Swollen lymph nodes

Hi all,

im really scared that i might have lymphoma or something similar. I am 18 year old female, smoker (2-3 a day) dont really drink that much. I have many swollen lymph nodes on my neck and groin (one in particular bigger hard moveable lump on my neck) i noticed the lumps on my groin around 6 months ago but the neck ones only a month ago but seem to be getting smaller ones appear more and more as the time has gone by including the bigger noticable one. I havent had any proper illness/infections to trigger them. Hardly any other symptoms except extreme tiredness/ fatigue/muscle weakness and more recently loss of apetite and feel a bit itchy sometimes. The lumps are not painful or tender to touch at all and can move them. My doctor did blood tests- all clear, but is now saying they want to refer me to a haematologist for advice on what to do. Waiting for a call from them to see whats going on and if i need tests. I have stupidly decided to look online and lymphoma seems like something fairly similar to what i am experiencing, does anyone think i could have it?
im really worried and so are my family, looking for any info/advice

thank you

  • Hi, I don't really have any advice and only the doctor's will be able to diagnose, but just replying to say I'm going through something kind of similar, and scared it could be lymphoma. Hard painless non moving lump on neck, itchy skin, sore throat for weeks too, tired (although single mum with 4 and 1 year old so tiredness could be down to that!). I had blood tests Tuesday, and in hospital tomorrow for a one stop lump clinic where they'll do all tests needed. I'm so scared but also desperate to know what it is, I can't think of much else at the moment!

Keep us posted with how you get on x

  • Hi,

Sounds quite similar to me other than mine you can move, such a tense time at the moment. Good luck with everything, let us know how you get on too.

  • Hi, I got the all clear! The consultant said he thought the node was swollen due to infection (I'm unaware of having ban infection but we think it could be from my itchy skin on my scalp and that causing irritation). I had the camera up the nose (not nice!) And he asked after if I drink much water... I said no I don't, he said he thinks my persistent sore throat is due to dehydration! He said he didn't think there was anything bad with the lymph node as it wasn't that big, but they'll ultrasound for reassurance. I had that about an hour later, btge sonographer had a really good check and said it was fine, it was swollen but probably swelled up due to something like a past infection but never went down and may never do. She checked all my neck and throat and there was nothing else. My bloods had also come back clear. The consultant signed me off as no issues, I'm so relieved, it's been incredibly stressful. I'm going to try and look after myself a bit better now, more water and fruit etc! Keeping everything crossed for you it's nothing to worry about, please keep up posted with how you get on x

  • Hello,

Really good news im so please you got the all clear, yeah definitely just make sure you're looking after yourself but happy that the waiting and stress can finally go. Im still waiting for a call from the doctor but will keep you posted on what happens x

  • I'm going through the same thing ATM.

For months I've had 3 grape sized swollen nodes under my jawline. Had 2 blood tests which later came out to be normal and my doctor had multiple back and forthing with heamotology, I never had to deal with them.

Fast forward to a few months later and 4 more nodes have appeared in my neck this time around grape to m&m sized. Went to the doctor and have been told I need an ultrasound so I'm really scared. My anxiety is going crazy and it's only day 1. I also have a cough and I'm scared it's linked.

  • Hi wondering how you got on hope all ok??
