Core Needle Biopsy. Breast. Worried.

Hi ladies and gents. I was wondering if anyone could give me any advise. How long does it usually take to get core needle biopsy results back? My radiologist said up to 2 weeks... but can I ask, if it's bad, will I hear before that? I found a lump (smaller than a pea) around 3 weeks ago. I've been to the breast clinic today, saw the  rest surgeon who wasn't concerned and then went for an untrasound. At first she said it looks benign, but as she looked more, she asked if I've had any trauma to the breast. So I just said no... but I have a 3 year old and  puppy, they are quite large breasts so they get knocked about a bit... but no injury. So she said it could be inflammation or trauma, she wasn't worried but wanted to send a biopsy off. She took 3 biopsy and said she will request the results by letter. If its cancer will I still get a letter? Sorry for the questions, I'm just not sure what to think. Xx

  • Hi

is yours estrogeon based then? Gosh breast cancer is complex.  No chemo for me I did that for my bowel cancer nearly five years ago, so I'm pleased I don't have to do that.  Albeit that I did cope quite well I worked throughout except for my intravenous days.  So three weeks only radiotherapy and tablets for ten years.  I think I might be starting first week December, will know more next Tuesday.  I will certainly keep checking on you and hope you get good news, we can get through the radiotherapy together.  Ok positive out of a negative, having family over will mean more people to spoil and look after you ️ Which I bet they will love although I know what you mean it does disrupt things a bit.  Have you got a choice as to when you start?  I was told I had a two or three month window think that was from surgery... I opted just to get it out the way so cancelled my holiday in Tenerife xx

  • Yes Estrogen positive im post menopause aswell so I'll be on Estrogen blockers letrizole for 8 years I'm really hoping I just get radiation therapy I think I can cope with that it makes you feel a little more tired that's what most people say anyway but if I need chemo I'm not going to be jumping for joy as I'm worried if it makes me poorly and of course the hair loss is worrisome so I'll know definitely what I'm getting when the Oncotype results come back my next appointment is in 2 weeks we'll sail through this I'm sure message me anytime and we'll share our experience Brest cancer is far more complex than I ever imagined I did ask if i could start treatment late December after the Christmas holiday but he said no got to get on with it as soon as possible so  looking at 1st week in December whatever it'll be I go to western park hospital Sheffield .

  • I've never had meno pause and hysterectomy was before I would have even started, mine is blocker as well, hmm wonder if the chemo is the difference between us re the lymph nodes? Urghh it's very complex every question creates another

well I'm really hoping you on my ride with radiotherapy and no chemo required that will be very cool.  Some very lovely helpful ladies have said we just need to keep slapping on E45 cream, keep in fridge so it's cool too

The chemo I had was for bowel so very different to breast from what I'm understanding I too will keep positive you get good news about that.  And we will defo keep in touch and compare stories

Have a great night chat soon xx

  • I just wanted to let you all no that I get my results from my biopsy today and thankfully it's all ok. I have necrosis and severe inflammation but it's all benign. The NHS have been amazing with me and the whole process has taken less than 3 weeks, that's including the biopsy result. Amazing. I hope you are all well and thank you all again for your comments ♡ xxx

    Hi Kelly,

This is marvellous. It is always great to hear good news. Don't forget to keep checking your breasts regularly and, I sincerely hope that you don't find anything.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
