Palpable mass however MRI shows nothing?

Hi I have a mass on my left calf about 3cm in diameter and only really shows when I tense the muscle. The GP ruled out a cyst and sent me for an MRI. Today the MRI results are said to show nothing. Im not sure what this means? Whether there are no obvious anomyles of is the scan cannot see the lump.

Any thoughts? Like I said the lump is fairly large, it really shows when I tense the muscle so I find it strange how the scan cannot see it?

I had to have a scan for a mass in my chest but they could not see it, it wasn't vascular and therefore diagnosed with a lipoma. The fact that your scan didn't show up anything is good news.

Thats good to know, to be honest I was thinking it was a Lipoma as well its just because of how rapidly it grew and sometimes pain when under tension it plays on your mind a bit. Thanks for the information

Yes could also (I think) be part of the muscle pushing out, some sort of hernia - I imagine that wouldn't show up as differentiated from the muscle around it unless it was sticking out when they did the scan, in which case you might see the outline of it.
Good news though, anyway, as Maggie says.
