Suspected Breast Cancer

I am a 29yo Male, been having trouble with a bleeding left nipple for the last year and been having tenderness (both) with slight breast (both) growth - which both ache at the end of each day!

Saw a Nurse Practioner on 31st October in relation to the above and she said she is referring me to the hospital for examination

Monday 4th November, I got a call from my local hospital requesting I go for an appointment on Thursday 7th November at the Breast Clinic.

Not sure quite sure what to think or do, struggling to sleep as well now after googling (I know probably not the best idea!!)!!

  • Hello s90

Welcome to the forum and I'm sorry to hear that you've been dealing with this health concern for a while.

It's routine for the hospital to refer someone with your symptoms to breast clinic and it's also really important to remember that the majority of people who attend don't go on to be diagnosed with cancer. Breast cancer in men is rare. There are about 390 men diagnosed with breast cancer each year with most men being diagnosed between the ages of 60 and 70.

I hope that this offers you some reassurance. Try to give Google a wide berth. There's lots of inaccurate and unhelpful information on the internet. If you want to talk to someone then you're most welcome to give one o four nurses a call. They're available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040.

I hope your appointment goes well today. Let us know how you get on.
    Best wishes,
