Bowel cancer screening

Hi,

I had a bowel cancer screening on Thursday last week and they found 3 polyps. The Doctor who did it told me it was good I went and said they look benign. No biopsies were taken and now waiting for a colonoscopy in about 2 weeks.

He has told me to try not to worry which I am now worried sick!

I haven't really had any symptoms apart from a spot of bright red blood in the toilet pan one day about 3 weeks ago and now a bit of abdominal pain on my left side.

Can benign growths cause pain? I am now fearing the worst.

He didn't take any biopsies, not even for the bigger one and I'm worrying that another two weeks before I have a colonoscopy could it get worse?

Can anyone offer me advice please?

  • Hi Dotwin and welcome to the forum.

Hopefully some of our members will offer some advice soon but I just wanted to wish you all the best with your colonoscopy when the time comes.

If you'd like to find out a bit more about benign growths then our cancer nurses are just a phone call away on 0808 800 4040. They're available Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m

Fingers crossed the results confirms what the doctor said.

    Kind regards,
