Tests being done.

Hi

thanks in advance for any advice given. Been looking at this site for a few weeks now. I found a lump at the front  of my throat mid sept. I went to GP. He thought like myself that it was a goiter on my thyroid. Wasn't concerned. Did some tests. Thyroid function care back normal. I'd been referred to get an ultrasound. I then remembered my dad has his thyroid taken out before I was born so left a message with GP. Saw consultant ENT & had camera passed down throat. Do thing there. Got intrasound. She said the lump she could feel and see was not near by thyroid and wanted me to be seen my ENT again soon. Phoned ENT SECRETARY who told me a letter was coming to say I had two cysts on my thyroid and an unknown mass above it and I would be re-referred back to Radiology. Called them. Had an appt for next week but they had space yesterday so went for a Contrast MRI in my neck. I have been very ill ever since. Feeling sick, vomiting, hot sweats, sore kidneys, chills etc. Been in bed all day. Looked up the net. This is a side effect of the dye put in my veins for the MRI. Anyone else been this ill from it? I would not rush to feel like this again. Makes me really scared that if it is cancer and I need chemo I'm going to be sick as this on and off. Anyway. Told 2-3 weeks for them to get the report back to ENT. Is this normal? Seems a very long time to be worrying. Two weeks ago I wasn't really worried. Now I'm really worried. I can't decide if it's my imagination that the lump is getting bigger too. It is smaller than a golf ball but not much. I can feel it when I swallow.

  • Hi Weevix,

I hope that you're feeling better now after your scan. It's unfortunate that the side effects left you feeling so wiped out.

We know that waiting for results can be a really frustrating period of time. It may be that they need to be looked at by multiple sets of people so that when you do have your appointment they are able to give you as full a picture as possible. I know it's easier said than done but try to take each day at a time and not look too far ahead. Lots of our members have said that keeping busy helps too.

Hopefully you won't have to wait too long for the results. Let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes,
