Hard armpit lump in pregnancy

Hello everyone,

I'm writing this message while I'm waiting for a letter to say I've been appointed to the breast clinic...I cannot express how scared and lifeless I feel after finding this hard lump, about 1 cm in diameter in my right armpit. I'm 24 weeks pregnant and I couldn't think that the joy of waiting for my baby boy to be born can be darkened by such frightening prospect, that I could not be alive to see him growing up. GP's reaction to feeling the lump and all this reading on google got me completely depressed since I didn't find anything encouraging, I was looking for that one person to say yes, I had that and it was nothing to worry about. I'm not even sure I want to know the outcome as I am completely overwhelmed.
I'm sure there are ladies on this forum that went through the same thing. It will really help me to hear someone else's experience in the same scenario and it will really help me to just express my fears that would be understood here. Everyone else is telling me to stay positive- which I am trying hard to but it seems like the hardest thing at the moment.

Thank you for your replies, ladies. I wish you all health and happiness!

hugs x

  • I have the same problem. Please can someone update about your findings? Thank you

  • I'm in the same situation as yourself but I am 15 weeks pregnant. The doctors thought it was an infection as I have redness that is hot to touch but the antibiotics have not worked. Along with the swelling in my lymph nodes this has lead to an appointment at the breast clinic but I am absolutely demented waiting for the letter I know Google is so unhelpful but it's hard not to and once you start it's a really dark and depressing road. I just feel so down and I'm petrified of needing to decide between my heslth or my baby's life if it is the worst case scenario I hope everything went well with your investigation! Hope to hear of some positive similar outcomes on this post xxx

  • Hi,

Sorry for not giving a follow up on this post sooner.
After weeks of driving myself crazy, I had two scans 4 weeks apart and it's been confirmed to be a seborrhoic cist.
So to give some hope to you ladies, don't drive yourselves crazy, I know how hard it is believe me but it does more harm to you and your baby. It could be lots of other things so I keep my finger crossed for you all that you have some good news and nothing to worry about

    xx

  • Hey, sorry to jump on this post.. I have had the exact same thing happen to me. I started to get tender breasts at 16 week (due to milk production) then I noticed a lump in my armpit.. I'm not 26. 5 weeks with multiple lumps within the armpit and breast followed by rib and breast pain. (only on my right side)..

Would it Be worth me going abck to the doctors and they told me at 16 weeks it's to do with pregancy.

Feels like I have a lump under my arm even when I'm resting ..

    Many thank,

    Kay

  • Hey, I had a similar scenario. My GP said to wait two weeks, so I did even though it was pure hell worrying every time I thought about it. It was still there after those 2 weeks so I went back and was referred to the breast clinic. They tested and gave me results the same day. I'm relieved to say they confirmed it was just breast tissue that had moved from the breast to under the arm and is quite a common pregnancy thing which the specialist said is nothing to worry about and is caused by hormones. They said most likely it'll go after I give birth.

To anyone reading this, remember a lot of changes go on in your body in pregnancy, so go and get it checked but don't fear the worst. Underarm lumps in pregnancy are more common than you think.
