Worried about lung cancer aged 23

Hello everyone, I’m looking for some advice and help please!!! For the last three years I’ve felt as if something has changed somehow with my breathing/right lung. I do not have a persistent cough but when I’m ill with a cold or have the need to cough it sounds like a seal  (similar to dry/ croup like sound) and I get breathlessness when doing certain daily activities. I’ve also got a persistent pressure like feeling in my back on the right (which makes me believe it’s my right lung that’s the problem) I’ve had one X-ray a couple of years ago and they said it was clear. I recently went back with the problem and was sent for a lung function test my results were below average and actually worse after the use of an inhaler.  Has anyone experience anything similar? I’m a none smoker, however have been a social smoker in the past!

Any advice would be amazing!

  • Hello Jade

I'm sorry to hear that you've had an on going health problem for the past few years.

It would be unlikely at 23 years old that you have lung cancer but from your post it sounds as if your GP has taken steps to try and get to the cause of your problems which is positive.

Presumably now that you've had a lung function test you'll be seeing your GP again to discuss the results and what the next steps may be.

I do hope that things settle for you soon.

    Best wishes,
