Breast lump and left hand back/shoulder pain

Hi everyone this is my first time in posting!
I went to the doctor on Thursday as I had found a lump in my breast and have been having pain in my back above my shoulder pain. When I press on my back, it's like a knot and aches when I touch it. It's also started to radiate down my shoulder and upper arm

Saw the doctor and he felt the lump and he says he thinks it may be a cyst as it's perfectly round in shape and painful to touch. He also thinks I may have pleurisy in my lungs which is causing my back and arm pain. He's prescribed my antibiotics for both but he wants to see me again on 11th November. I am absolutely beside myself with worry as I haven't found any relief yet from the antibiotics. I know it's just a couple of days in but I'm just going out of my mind! I came across some stand up to cancer videos while scrolling on YouTube and I've now convinced myself it's the C word. My other half has gone out and I've just sat on the stairs and cried!

Has anyone had similar symptoms? I just feel so drained and lost. I don't know what to do with myself xx

  • Hello Loveandlight

I do hope you're feeling a little better since you posted on Saturday.

Pleurisy can be very painful and it's only a few days since the GP prescribed you the antibitotics. They will take a while to kick in and it'll possibly be a while longer before the aches and pains start to settle.

If your GP is still concerned about the lump next week then I'm sure he will discussing referring you to breast clinic. If he does, please don't panic. The large majority of people who attend clinic with a lump don't go on to be diganosed with breast cancer but the clinic is the right place to get the lump thoroughly checked.

I hope that things settle and start to improve soon. Do let us know how you get on.
    Best wishes,
