High grade severe dyskaryosis

I just wanted a bit of advice/reassurance and I am so worried that it's affecting me now.

so the two months I noticed a change in my body. My periods have changed to just 24 hours long but heavy the last two cycle, on top of that I have had pelvis pain/pressure ( nothing unbearable just noticeable) some bloating and period type pain. I was concerned and went to my dr who done a pelvis examination which he said was fine and referred me for w scan. During this I mention I was late for my smear by around 7 months, terrible I know but I had it booked and had to cancel as my daughter was unwell and then I forgot! Big mistake.

I had a smear the day after my appointment and bloods, all bloods have come back fine but I quickly got a letter saying I have the hpv virus and high grade severe dyskaryosis. I have my colposcopy next week and have been told I will have treatment that day. I am so scared because I have left my smear late plus my symptoms for the last two months that it has turned to cancer. I am terrified.

has anything else has this on top of my symptoms and everything be ok?! I do not have any bleeding between periods or after sex. Just the pelvic pain and a change in cycle length.

Thank you!

  • Hello Char1988,

I just wanted to welcome you to our forum. I know you feel really bad about having had to cancel your smear and then forgetting to rebook it but try not to worry too much. We have detailed information on our website about HPV and on abnormal cervical cells which I hope will reassure you. You can also find out more about what to expect from the colposcopy here

Try not to worry if you can as you are now in good hands and I am sure the treatment will be very effective. The important thing is that those abnormal cells have now been detected and there is treatment available to deal with these.

Wishing you the best of luck for your colposcopy next week. I hope it all goes well!

    Best wishes,
