What are normal waiting times?

My Mum had an incomplete colonoscopy over 2 weeks ago and as they were not able to get all the way around with the camera, they wanted her to have a CT colonoscopy to rule out bowel cancer. They said at the timewithin 2 weeks but since then 6 weeks has been mentioned. She did chase it last week but they just told her the ball is rolling.

I'm just wondering what the normal waiting times are and whether she should be chasing this? It's 4.5 weeks since she first saw her GP and we still don't know whats going on.

Thanks

  • Hi Mogrey

After my two colonoscopies I had to wait about a month for my CT scan, but then they knew I didn't have cancer as, although incompete, they saw enough to know I was in the clear. The CT scan was to confirm and diagnose me with diverticulitis. I would certainly chase this up with your mum's consultant/GP to see what the situation is and make a fuss if you have to. You can do this on your mum's behalf, if you have her permission.
