It's fairly common to wait 1-3 weeks for results. It's always best to try not to assume anything one way or the other. It's also standard practice for the letters to mention bringing a family member along.

Some people say keeping busy and distracted is the best thing to do at this stage, and to carry on as normally as possible until your appointment. I know this can be easier said than done though.
