Lump in breast

Hi,

I am looking for a little advice or reassurance I think, I know that's probably not possible but it helps me to process things when I talk about it! About 6 months ago I went to the gp complaining that my breast didn't feel right, i couldn't put my finger on it, she dismissed me because of my age and said if it's still there in a month come back! I put it down to being paranoid and put it to the back of my mind, which is easy to do with a busy career and 3 young children to look after.

Fast forward 6 months and I have been having pain in that same breast when wearing a bra, it's been feeling rather tight! And then last night, while lying on the couch I found a hard, weird shaped lump...again I thought I was being paranoid but asked hubby to have a few and he felt it too and actually said he felt it before but never said (which majorly annoyed me).
I am going to phone gp in the morning but was curious if this has happened to anyone else.

Thanks

M

  • A little update...

I went to my GP yesterday (not the same one) and she had a feel and asked a few questions, I told her about being uncomfortable in my bra and she could see that one breast looked bigger than the other, she could feel the lump that I was talking about and said my right breast had harded skin..she has referred me to the breast clinic but told me not to panic if the letter comes through very quickly!

I am worried but trying to keep busy and not think about it, thankfully I am so busy during the day, I fall asleep quickly but wake up a lot during the night and can't switch my brain off!
I know it is very unlikely it will be the worst but I think it's easy to tell yourself it but harder to believe.

  • Not sure if anyone is reading these but it helps me to write down what's happening! I got an appointment through for the breast clinic on Thursday for a week on Monday.
I have been feeling very anxious and not sleeping well the past week but I am starting to feel emotionally stronger now! Not thinking about it is hard but keeping busy certainly helps.
My mum has offered as has my best friend to come along with me to my appointment but I'm not sure I want anyone else with me, as I have no idea how long I will be at the appointment and my mums mum died from metastatic breast cancer 3 years ago and I'm not sure I want to put my mum through that journey again x
