Advice for Recurring stomach ache

Hi, I have been having a recurring stomach ache for the past 2 weeks. I recently also noticed a small amount of bright red blood in my stool. I told my doctor about the stomach ache but she said it's probably ibs due to anxiety however I'm worrying that that's not the case. I get anxious very easily so as soon as I saw the blood I was convinced it's something sinister but I'm 15 years old and I saw online that bowel cancer in teenagers/ children is uncommon. I wondered if anyone has the same symptoms and has any advice?

  • Hi Flower1324,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. The best thing is to try to trust the advice of your GP. What you could do in order to be proactive is to make a note of any changes in symptoms, and if things don't improve or you notice anything different, make a note and you can then make a further appointment and discuss this with your GP. In the meantime try to carry on as normal and not dwell on it all too much if you can.

If you'd like to discuss anything with our nurses, you can reach them on 0808 800 4040 - Monday-Friday, 9-5.

Do try to avoid googling symptoms, as the results are often inaccurate and it can lead to further worry.

    Wishing you all the best,
