Adenocarcinoma liquid in stomach

Hello

Please can anyone help.

My dads been being sick over the last month or so he’s had various tests done. Cutting the story short they found a small amount of fluid in his stomach which went away then came back after testing it they said it’s adenocarcinoma in the fluid. His duodenum is inflamed and was hard to pass camera through. But they have found no Tumours or lumps.

They are testing the fluid to see if they can find the origin of the cancer.

The consultant told us yesterday the outcome for my dad would be a few months as he feels it could be pancreas cancer.

But my dad is well in him self otherwise.

What can we do? Should we go private? How can he be ok and only have months left. Please can anyone help or have experience with this. Could they be wrong? As they haven’t seen any lumps or tumours anywhere.

Thank you.

  • Hi Helpmydad,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. I'm very sorry to read this about your dad.

In terms of your questions, the medical ones can only really be answered by your dad's medical team. Do make sure you discuss these with them as soon as possible as it's important that you're fully informed.

You can also give our nurses a call if you'd like to talk anything through - you can reach them on 0808 800 4040 - Monday-Friday, 9-5.

In terms of going private, this is of course your decision - depending on how long you currently are expecting to wait for information, and how keen you are to explore this route. You could also potentially discuss this with our nurses if you would like to.

I hope you're able to find out more soon.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben
