Been told at the clinic that I have a small polyp on cervix?

Hey all, I've gone for a check up as I was noticing some things where different 'down there' I'm 22 never had any serious problems. They doctor at the clinic took some swabs and later told me I had a polyp on my cervix. The doctor was all smiley so I figured it was nothing to worry about. She said I can go to a doctor and get it removed. Fine. I've gone home. Looked it up now I'm getting really worried. As it could actually lead to something. Should I be reassured by the fact the dr didn't elderly seem too bothered? Can she see from the swab If it was cancerous? I should've asked questions but the way she was acting I thought it was just extra skin or something.

what should be my next move? Should I go to a GP and get it tested? What are the chances of it being cancerous. And should I keep getting checked so I'm safe?

Thankyou in advance ️

  • Hello Jess and welcome to the forum.

I'm sorry to hear that you've been having some problems. As it wasn't your GP that told you about the polyp I would certainly suggest making an appointment with them. They will be best placed to answer any questions you may have and discuss any monitoring or treatment that may be appropriate.

    Best wishes,
