3rd biopsy needed! (Womb/endometrial/uterine cancer) angry!!

I am 31 and have 2 kids. I had CIN 3 at 19 and had a loop biopsy and laser treatment.

I have PCOS.

Recently i have been bleeding after sex and my periods are so heavy i change my tampon every hour and even 70% of the time i leak before then! i end up changing so many times a day thats with tampons, pads and tranexamic acid!

I had an ultrasound showing left ovary 3x the size of right ovary, 16.5m thick lining, a mass and a polyp.

I had a hysteroscopy and had no mass, no polyp but they did the biopsy. Biopsy came back 4 weeks later and showed glandular crowding with mild architextural complexity but inconclusve of hyperplasia but showed no invasive maligancy.

I had to have a 2nd hysteroscopy and biopsy. 2 days later they booked me in quickly. She decided not to do a hysteroscopy and went in blind with a pipelle and took the biopsy. (Even though the letter clearly states do another hysteroscopy)

Results have been back since sunday and the consultants had an MTP meeting this morning and discussed my case and said these results show proliferative endometrium but not a lot else.

They want me in urgently for a THIRD biopsy, this time with a different instrument which is bigger and to do it under GA (general anaes) and to do a targeted biopsy of certain areas!

This has been 11 weeks, now i have to wait LONGER for a pre assessment appt to make sure i can have a GA then have a GA biopsy, so again weeks and weeks more!!!

I have never felt so let down, angry and emotional in my life.

I don't actually have any answers, i don't know what they've found or think they have found and the hopsital are useless and won't help and never put me through to anyone and will not even update "mychart" with my results for me to read.

I am worried something sinister is there and they are just dragging this out!

The first 2 biospies were mental torture enough not to mention the wait and now i need a third!

Feel so low :(

  • Hello 31andamumof2

I'm sorry to hear that you've been told you need another biopsy. I can imagine that it's been a really difficult and frustrating time for you. Waiting for tests and results can be really hard and when you're told that you need more it's understandable that you would feel as you do.

It sounds positive that so far the results that have come back showed there was no invasive malignancy.
Have you spoken to your GP about how you're feeling? If you're unable to speak to anyone at the hospital for information it may be that your GP is able to access it or is able to make enquiries on your behalf. It's worth having a chat with them.

I really do hope that you don't have to wait too long now for your appointment. If you think it might help you to talk thigns through with one of our nurses you can call them on 0808 800 4040 (Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm).

    Best wishes,
