Bleeding for 4 month solid

Hi,

I am really worried as I have had continuous menstruation/bleeding  (and quite heavy as well) for four months (and before that for maybe another 5 month until it stopped and I thought I was fine. I have been to see the GP several times, they gave me some hormone drug (Provera), but it has not had any effect. I was referred to hospital and had a check and they said there is nothing to worry about, but it is really quite unpleasant , I have to use tampons and pads at the same time all day long. And just think about the envvironmental impact, never mind the impact on my relationship with my husband (who is being very nice about it), but the whole thing is embarrassing and stoppping me from enjoying life to the full. I worry each day about going to work and" leaks" showing up. I have to do lectures with 150 + students...and I worry. I don't know what else it could be, I am worried about cancer, but my GPs are not very helpful.

Any suggestions, anyone, much appreciated

  • They shouldn't be ignoring this, it's not normal and I know this because it happened to me when I was 36 years old.  Continual heavy bleeding, leaking all over the place in meetings, terrified of leaving my mark everywhere I went even with double heavy sanitary pads.  It turned out I had growths attached to my womb and ended up borderline anaemic requiring a blood transfusion and a hysterectomy, so no cancer, but all ended well as my recovery was good.  Ask for further investigations and don't leave it for your own and your husband's sake.  God luck, Carol

  • Thank you for replying, Carol. I will see if I can get so see somebody else,  but I feel pretty much left alone and as you say, the thought of leaving marks in meetings (or as I did in a hotel recently) is terrifying and embarassing.

    Cheers
