I have an appointment on Friday at the hospital am so scared and worried about the results. Has anyone else been this stage and had good news

  • Hi Emma,

Lots of people are at this stage but they don't come on this forum or stick around once they get good results - they get on with their lives, quite rightly, but it doesn't help those in your position.

I have been a melanoma patient for 23 years (Stage 1 in 1996 and then Stage 3 since 2009). I have also had 7 further dodgy moles/lesions removed that all turned out to be benign. For every 10 people in your position, 7 or 8 of them will get clear results - so the odds are very much in your favour. If the results are positive, treatment for melanoma is showing great success so it's not as desperate as it was 5 years ago. Also, if caught early, there is a 95% chance that there will be no further problem in the future. So please try not to think about the worst case scenario until you know your results.

The hardest part of this is the waiting - Friday will come around quickly but try to keep busy & distract yourself. Good luck and please let us know how you get on,

    Angie
