Doctor says I’m fine why am I still worrying

Hi there,

about a year ago I found two lumps one above either testicle. I got checked by two doctors and both said there was nothing to worry about they couldn't see anything abnormal. For some reason I have started to worry they might have been wrong I don't know why I feel stupid saying it I just don't get why all of a sudden I've started getting these thoughts.

any advice would be much appreciated

  • Welcome to the forum Anonymous1997 although I'm sorry for the reason you've joined us.

I think many of our members - some of which will hopefully be along soon to offer their advice - will understand your thought process so try not to be too hard on yourself for being worried. If you've noticed any changes since last year or feel your worries about this are getting the better of you don't be afraid of popping back to see your doctor as they will be in the best position to put your mind at ease about this once more.

    Kind regards,

  • Thankyou for getting back to me. I haven't noticed any change they are both the same as before my partner believes I'm suffering with paranoia or anxiety which I pretty much agreed

  • Quick update I went to A and E last Saturday the doctor checked me over and said it's one of three things. A testiclar torsion which he ruled out, Epididymitis which he put me on antibiotics for or epididymis cyst he recommended I have an ultrasound after seeing my doctor still abit nervous but I think that sounds pretty positive?

  • Also to add I did have a chest x ray as I suffered a couple of panic attacks which they diagnosed as a small infection they found  recently I was just wondering would this rule out any chance of if I did have testicular cancer of it spreading to the lungs?

  • Hi anonymous

We are all just cancer patients or carers of people with cancer and we do not have medical knowledge to advise on what something may or not be. The only people qualified to give you information are doctors, so I think the advice would be that you return to your gp to arrange an ultrasound, as advised,  to see if that will put your mind at rest. You maybe should think about asking for some help with your health anxiety too.

  • Thanks for replying to me I have an ultrasound for next Friday aswell as an appointment with a counsellor in a couple of weeks. I didn't know if anyone had any info about x rays of the chest in relation with potential lung cancer?

  • It’s good you have appointments scheduled to check things out, and you should ask the doctor about the chest x rays. You have asked a question about x rays in relation to potential testicular cancer potentially spreading to the lungs, and this is not something that forum members can advise on.

Like I said we are patients or carers, not doctors, and it wouldn’t be appropriate for any of us to give advice on this.

I hope your mind is put at rest when you go to the doctor and that you find counselling helpful.
