Biopsy results

Hi, I'm just looking for some feedback on other peoples experiences. I'm 22, I've previously had a benign phyllodes tumour. Last week I went to the hospital for and ultrasound and core biopsy as I had found another lump. I received a phone call this morning saying the dr wants to see me this Thursday. The worrying thing is he thought it would be nothing so said he would just send a letter but they have said he wants me to come in now. The receptionist says it's a 15 minute appointment, I'm really worried and am thinking the worst. What have other people's experiences been in terms of biopsy results. Thanks

  • Hi, Lulu

You were very sensible to get the new lump checked as soon as you found it.

Even if it does turn out to be cancer, it will be treatable.

Breast cancer is so treatable now.

I had a biopsy recently, and it came back that it's cancer, but am not a bit worried as they are going to start treatment as soon as I've had the blood test etc results to make sure I'm OK for an op etc. They talk you through the treatment plan and help you plan what to do about your work (as there'll be days you need to take off work) and they discuss with you when you're likely to be well and ready to go back to your full workload. They emphasize that you must eat well and take as much rest as you can.

Breast cancer seems to be the cancer that is most treatable as far as I can see.

God bless you. Sounds as if you have a very thorough team of clinicians

  • Thank you so much for getting back to me, that's made me feel much better. So sorry about your diagnosis, hope everything goes ok for you :)

  • Thank you, Lulu45.

Thank you for your kindness. It was lovely to hear back from you. But really am not worried. The consultant was very direct with me because I told her that that was what I wanted. But when she took me through the treatment plan it was clear that breast cancer is very treatable.

I'm not sure why breast cancer is so much more treatable now than many other cancers. Is it because so much funding has been put into it?

I'd been looking forward to a holiday I was about to go on, but I took the advice of the team and didn't go, because it's important to get started on tests and treatment as soon as you can.

I don't know a lot, but I have already learned that the sooner you start treatment (if it is cancer), the sooner you will be well.

    Warmest wishes
