CGIN cells and recent LLETZ

Hi,

I'm very new to this forum but wanted to get some advice and share my story with others.

8 weeks ago I had results back from smear - HPV positive and moderate to severe changes.

Referred for a colposcopy which I had 5 weeks ago. Mentioned there wasn't anything severely abnormal but took some biopsies.

Had results 2 weeks ago which found CGIN cells, went for LLETZ treatment last Tuesday not even a week ago.

Since then I've had constant lower back pain, some twinges/period pain, and now hip pain. Feeling tired, got a little bit of smelly discharge but not much in consistency, a bit constipated, bad heartburn & acid. My hot water bottles never had so much use!

Anyone any idea what's happening? Due to have my results in 3 weeks time, gyno advised I might not need more treatment but was told everything was OK the first time I went.

What can I expect from the LLETZ results? Will I have to have the treatment again? Will it confirm grade precancerous or even cancerous cells? I'm 28, not had any children as yet.

Appreciate any advice anyone has.

A x

I've been searching though google and across this I had my smear last July was told every looked healthy and as it should n to wait for my results which come back with slight abnormal changes n hpv positive they sent me to the colposcopy clinic I had my first check which come back high grade CGIN I when went back to have my first treatment of lletz which of Monday came back that there our cells still remaining where they our our tricky to remove my consultant has given me 3 options to either leave it (which isn't an option) to have a another procedure of lletz or have a hysterectomy I feel lost I don't no what to do for the best I'm 28 I have my 3 children so it's not so much about wanting more kids etc I'm scared and don't no the right path

how r u ladies? Have u had any results back yet? It's such a lonely space to be in ur mind my husband been amazing I just feel so lost with it all

much love to u all xxx

  • Hi. sorry to hear you are going through this tough time. I personally would be wanting to know more about what the consultant thinks the chances are of getting all the cells with another lletz, and if they weren't able to , is the hysterectomy still an option after that. If they really don't think they would be able to get all the cells, I would seriously be considering just going stright for the hysterectomy. I also have 3 children so am in the same boat there so would be doing what ever I could to keep healthy for them.

Nothing new with me, just waiting for my 6 month follow up after lletz in June. Fingers crossed all is clear.

  • I feel abit mixed about the lletz when I spoke to my consultant he said because of where they our in my canal it could be tricky and then look in hysterectomy but then I spoke to his repectionest she said he wouldn't of offered if wasn't a high chance this is my biggest worry my babies our my world n the though of them growing up without a mum terrifies me all feels well to much! Keeping my fingers crossed for u ️  Thankyou for replying xxx

  • hi all xx

I found out in a routine smear that I had cgin. went for colposcopy August 2018. I was about 3 weeks pregnant but didn't know till after colposcopy. they couldn't do lletz untill after I had the baby but I got 4 check up colposcopys while pregnant to keep an eye on me. 2 months after I had the baby I had another colposcopy biopsy... tgen a few weeks after that my 1st lletz. that had unclear margins so I was called back for a second lletz. that had unclear margins too... and I was informed I have high grade Cgin, C1 and positive for HPV. she suggested hysterechtomy and put me on the urgent list. this was just before lockdown in Ireland... and surgeries are only starting again so I hope to hear soon when I go in.

I have 3 kids. looking back she was asking me tons of questions trying to figure out when I was pregnant was this my last baby. she knew from beginning I think.

hope you are all doing well xx

  • Hi xx

I had my hysterectomy on 10th june 2020. It didnt go as planned.they cut my bowel, and I ended up with a colostomy(well actually an ileostomy) bag for 5 months. Got that reversed in november. Tough road but over with now. No issues from hysterectomy that I noticed tho. Found the ileostomy surgery was tougher to heal from

    Hope you are well xx

  • Thankyou I wish you well , how did everyone else's treatment go , my daughter has 2 babies and I'm worried if she has a hysterectomy how they will all cope with recovery , she is waiting for her appointment for a lletz after cgin found in colposcopy after abnormal smear . I'm so worries and can't stop looking it up and wondering how many people need a hysterectomy with cgin . I know lots of people who have had successful treatment for cin and are fine now , best wishes

  • How are you know as per last post I'm worried about my daughter x

  • Hi,

I am fine thank you. I have a smear in June so just hoping that is still clear then I can go back to 3 yearly smears. Just waiting at the moment with nothing new to report thank fully. Fingers crossed for your daughter x

  • Thankyou she has a procedure Monday think it's a lletz I just worry why they have rushed her through and worry she will need a hysterectomy and coping with tiny babies , I am fearing the worse , hopefully the circumstances will be similar to yours , take care
