Getting myself wound up ☹︎

Hi,
l am getting myself more and more wound up. I'm 43 and stopped my periods in 2015. The only time I have one is when I'm under extreme stress (3 deaths).

l didn't think anything of it. As 3 periods in as many years is ok. Until l went on holiday and came on.

l was gutted but also a bit concerned.

So l saw my GP who did a fast rack appointment to see a gynaecologist.

when l got there she kept referring to my age saying l was too young.

l had a vaginal ultrasound and she said she could only see one ovary and that it had a cyst on it.

She then said she wanted to do a biopsy, I've had caesareans and so I'm having it done on Monday under a general anaesthetic. She also recommended I gave a coil fitted to help steady my hormones as she doesn't think I've been through the menopause,

Why couldn't she find my ovary? It was there before?

l get a little pain on both sides above my groin.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

  • Hello Twinkle2007,

A warm welcome to our forum. You've done the right thing in going to see the GP and it must have been puzzling for you to be told during the vaginal ultrasound that they could only see one ovary and that they had seen on a cyst on it. Perhaps when you next see the specialist, you could ask why they could only find one ovary, if there was any possible explanations for that?

I hope everything goes well on Monday and that you won't need to wait too long for the results of your biopsy. Keeping everything crossed for you that it all turns out to be fine!

Hopefully you will hear from some of our other members who have been in a similar position before.

    Best wishes,
