Uterine Polyps

I'm 28 and booked in for uterine polyp removal in a couple of weeks.

I've been suffering with vaginal bleeding for about 10 months now, much like a continuous period. I was referred by the NHS to a gyno and they were meant to do a hysterscopy and D&C back in April but there were significant delays so I've ended up going through my work insurance.

The new hospital did an internal ultrasound and found a polyp and think my coil is in the wrong place so will be doing as above and removing the coil.

The last month or so, the bleeding has become bright red like fresh blood and I'm suffering some pelvic pains and odd vaginal cramps. I'm starting to worry that the benign polyp may no longer be benign, especially as I've been suffering so long with these symptoms. 

Has anyone got any advice or experience of this?

    I just wanted to welcome you to our forum and I hope that you will hear from others here who have experienced this before. I hope the polyp removal goes well and that the wait isn't too difficult. You did the right thing in getting this properly investigated and it looks like the hospital is being thorough. Do mention to them though that you have experienced bright red bleeding in the last month and that you are suffering from pelvic pains and the cramps you describe. Try not to anticipate though that the polyp is no longer benign - hopefully you will get a definite diagnosis soon but while you are waiting to have the polyp removed in a couple of weeks, try and stay busy and distracted and avoid if you can looking anything up online. It won't be long now before you get some clarity on all this. We're keeping everything crossed for you!

    i had a uterine polyp removed recently which turned out to be cancerous. I am due to have a ct scan to look for spread on Tuesday and have been told I will need a hysterectomy in any case. I have endured ten days of waiting which has been hard but the hardest thing was telling my husband. I’ve kept things to myself while going through the various tests prior to removal of the polyp. I didn’t want to worry him but Christmas is coming and I may have the hysterectomy soon so I took a deep breath and told him yesterday. He was devastated So now there is an elephant in the room with us.
